one of my local pet shops says i can use coral sand for substrate cos it dosnt matter if they ingest some as its all calcium are they right |

not sure if sand's a good idea with snakes. maybe hoggies but not corns. doesn't it get stuck in their scales etc? |

I think alot of people on here will disagree with what the pet shop have told you I've been told sand is a no no for snakes |

calci sand = NO NO.
If your snake ingests sand, it will almost certaintly result in death.
Better off asking on here though TBH before you went ahead and did it (if you were planning to)
theres a great section on substrates in the care sheet. |

Well then I wouldn't buy from that shop. The snake couldv'e ingested some, you buy it, then a few days later wake up to a dead corn.

hi, there i would say no to sand i use aspen though you can also use paper. |

agree with all of the above shredded paper is really good for substrate..might not look so good but the snakes enjoy burrowing around and its free and a good way to get rid of those bills and things |
