I have no idea of poisonous wood's as such; I know pine and cedar sawdust can be leathal to snakes because of the fumes.
I'm not sure but try BE's thread in the DIY section about preparing wood found; it might say the type of wood he used, it might not.

Apart from that I can't help ya

Also make sure you bake it at approx 160oc for about an hour - I think, am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong - to kill any mites, parasites. xxx

Near enough Kellog! I think it's 100*c as everthing on our planet is mostly made up of water (some smarty pants is bound to say what isn't!) and water boils at 100*c effectly boiling the nastie's blood as blood is pretty much water .

You're both right, living creatures will die at 100C, however, some eggs are ok at higher temperatures prior to hatching, so 160C will be belt and braces .

Although if they are too big for an over, de-barked and soaked in bleach should do the trick too.

Any photo's of the wood in question?

oh. forgot about their eggs. 160*C will definately kill all of them though.

But would it burn the wood... or cook it effectively?

i`ve done one branch in the oven at 200 for 10 minutes and was fine. the latest batch however was too big to cook so i striped them and bleach-bathed them over night, the only thing is i left them to dry for a couple of days in the sun and they have splits all the way up. i`m not sure if i striped them too soon or if its the type of wood, either way it useless now.
