I have a 8 year old female and really think it would be a good idea to buy a female or a male to keep her company probably around the same sort of age. does anyone know any problems this may cause or have any recommendations i just think she must be bored so am looking for a partner for her.
thanks |

Snakes are solitary animals so they dont need to cohabitate(spelling). Putting a male in with her will mean they will bread, i think there is a thread on here somewhere which you should read What makes you think she is bored anyway ! Welcome to the forum btw |

You feel the need for company and find it hard seeing anything alone, but everyone is right - snakes are used to being alone. You be her company when you handle her! Why do you think she is bored, any change in her behavour? xxx |

if you feel she is bored, try changing round the set up of her viv, and enrich it with branches vines etc. by all means get anther snake- but have it live separately from your girl. |

Agreed with SB. Get another corn by all means but house them seperate and quarantine before, if, you plan to breed. Also quarantine makes sure there's no nasties on the newbie like mites.
try moving her viv around; and at feeding times, (if you don't do this already) make your snake strike but move the mouse away a few times so she goes into over drive when feeding

Hi CG although the above information is entirely(spelling) correct and should be taken into consideration ive kept corns together for years now with no problems at all although they have to be closely watched and it has been known to lead to cannabilism (usually in younger snakes) as long as they are roughly the same size and age it should be ok, but like remmy said if you dont want to breed it wouldnt be advisable to put a male in with her and if you do decide to do this it would also be a good idea to have another viv so you can seperate them if nesesary......hope this helps and i know im going to get it in the ear from everyone else now bout keeping corns together lol but looking forward to some constructive critisism(spelling) lol:) |
