hi all
was searching for information and found this fab website, feels like the right place to be to share information about corn snakes.
i own (sort of, long story) a 4 year old corn snake called Brian, he is about 4 foot long, and i was wondering if i can feed him quail eggs as a variation of his normal diet of mice...
have anyone done this before? how to do it? just put the egg in his tank? some advice/opinions are welcome.
i'll post some pictures of him in the near future...
thanks in advance

Dont bother it's a waste of time, could give the snake salmonella & kill it. They wouldn't generally eat them in the wild anyway. |

I've heard you can, but only if they are fertilised eggs. Otherwise they don't have any nutritional value.
I personally would stick to rodents, because like Moneymaker says it's what they would eat in the wild, but let us know if you give it a go. |

There are health issues and he would definatly struggle to eat it. Egg eating snakes have teeth along their spine pointing downwards. These teeth are in the neck and help the snake to crush and fracture the shell so that it can be spat out. Corns dont have these teeth and would find it hard to eat. |

Sorry to sound I was just worried you were going to try this. They really dont need to eat eggs if you want to try something different (other than mice) stick to rodents like rats, gerbils or try chicks. It's really about what will benefit the snake. |

I was wondering about feeding day old chicks to corns. Mines fully grown so would i give her two, one chick and one mouse or just the chick. If i decide to try it i will probs just ask for one from the farm instead of having to buy a few and it may turn out she doesnt want it. |

Just one would do it, they are bigger than you think. My king sometimes struggles with them.
Don't feed them very often though because they don't contain as much calcium as rodents do so it's not as healthy.
It's like us with a dirty macs. Big mac once a blue moon = alright, Quarter pounder everyday = gastric band |

Bruno I think frozen direct is one of the best places to order frozen goods online. I used them all the time & had no problems with payments, delivery & frozen goods. They are one of the best priced around & reliable too.

Hope this helps (& works ) |

They do have some nutritional value, it's just that they have a little less calcium and are more fatty than rodents. |

They have to be fully grown, otherwise they'll not fit a chick in their gob
Day old chicks are bigger than you'd expect |
