my view is that if a cat owner wants to let their cat out to confront a burm in someones private property then they have to take responsabilty for it,cats are killers too they kill people's prized koi and birds and numerous other wildlife,do that mean that they should be liecenced too.The owner has put a leghthy reply at the bottom of the artical stating what happened

its a sad story..
im on the snakes side in that it was only behaving naturally but then on the cats side as it was only roaming around and the snake shouldnt have been unattended..

had to completely rethink what i had put..

what was he thinking letting his snake out into his garden unattended?! is it possible to snake-proof a garden?!?! i remember when i was younger i used to jump the fence into next doors garden all the time to fetch a poorly thrown ball - i never used to worry about anything dangerous roaming around!
i hope hes learnt a lesson about letting it roam in his garden... i do feel sorry for the cat owners as it isnt a nice way to loose your pet but the risk of loosing them happens everyday when they get let out... its not the same as them being eaten by a snake but i know but its still there

haha we are all chavs cause we own snakes *brap*

i think the owners of the snake should be dealt with properly, an animal that size should never be left unattended anywhere,

what would have happened if it had been a child?

had that been my cat i would have wanted them being fed to the snake..

I think the Owner of the python acted inappropriately in leaving it unattended in his garden.
But Cat owners Should be aware that we do not like Cats roaming into our gardens and digging up plants and pooping in our flowerbeds.

I did like this comment.
(He never had a cat's chance in hell. Where did they get the snakes. Cat's are still using our garden as a lavatory, I need a python. There appears to be no "Pythons Are Us", or B (oa) and (s)Q(uash ). I can't re mamba where else to look. Perhaps Halfords might sell windscreen vipers)

I like most animals and used to have a couple of cats but they were trained to take a dump in a cat litter box and nowhere else. I get really narked when other peoples cats come into my garden to take a dump and then go after my fish. I dont know how this guy keeps his python but the cat was in his garden and it shouldn't have been there. Tough luck I say. Same would have happend to a rabbit or a similar sized animal that wanderd to close. It doesn't make the snake a dangerous animal just doing what snakes like to do.....eat furry things. What would have happend if tiddles had been knocked down by a car or a lorry? sod all......
I now airsoft any cat that wanders into my garden..a plastic pellet up the jacksy makes them jump very high indeed..The problem seems to have gone away, maybe cats do talk and word has got around!

Have read first story and comments attached and second story but couldnt cope with going through more comments like those on the 1st story. I love cats, had one as a child but now have a dog and snake instead. Have a lot of cats as neighbours and despite dog they regularly use our garden as their toilet. They seem to like the small flowerbed just by our front door, which stinks the house out each time the door is opened and is a 'lovely' welcome to any visitors. But, as much as I hate it, I do accept that cats can only be trained up to a certain point and will 'go' where they want to 'go'. I still dont understand why the python was outside in the first place and then for it to be unattended, even for a few seconds, is totally the owners fault. We all know how fast a snake can move and will find any way to escape - I cant believe he truly thought his garden would keep his python in so surely his fear of loosing it would mean he would never take his eyes off it. Because he did, and because of some of his comments, I do wonder how responsible an owner he is. He puts us responsible snake owners into a bad light. xxx
