Was feeding time today. and all went well and he quickly woofed down the hopper/crawler thing. came out of the fuzzie tin but wasnt a fuzzie. was a fat mouse and had full coat of hair but too big for a fuzzie which he was on 2 weekly 2 weeks ago.
He never had a problem with me watching him eat untill tonight.. he went crazy!!
Tail was going like a gatling gun and the head was bobbing like a bird, then he struck at me.
What could be causing this? it was a battle to get him back in the viv before he bit me. So he's back in the viv and wouldn't let me get the lid. he craned his neck and still bobbed his head!!
What can i do to stop this behaviour. feed him two of these "fuzzie's"?
cheers. |

when i got my caramel she was very hissy and rattley if i was around while she was eating, she has a decent sized meal now and has learned that i'm not about the nick her meal back off her............ it just takes time and feeding enough food!
just drop the fuzzy in and let him deal with it, cover him over to make him feel more secure, and it might be wise to tip him gently back into his viv rather than sticking your hand in and grabbing him! |

James hates being watched whilst he eats, too. He doesn't get angry, but he won't eat...he'll start moving towards his food, then freeze and if you don't retreat he'll go back into hiding until you do go! |

hillzi, was the hopper/crawler a lot bigger than the fuzzies he was on before. If it was maybe he felt insecure as the bigger the food the less able they are to defend themselfs. As gp said cover him over if he is like it next time and leave him a while to settle down before putting him back. |

I put a towel on the box (since it hasn't got a lid) and I moved the box and didn't hear the usual gatling gun, go I gently tiped the box and removed the towel, gently tapped the box and he went into his viv. it got dark about 10 minutes after and was happyily watching me watching the proffesional, normally I sit right up to the glass he scurries off, but didn't now.
I'm gonna give him, two of these "mice" next week then hopefully he wont be hungry and wanting to bite me...
I still think the head bobbing was really funny. cheers |
