ive bought a hygrometer yesterday the little dial one and its showing a humidity of 65/70%

is this too high and is there a way of lowering it if it is to high?

Increase the ventilation and move the water bowl away from the heat source. However, the dial thermometers and hygrometers are know to be inacurate.

Around 50%, which is normal room humidity.

If you put less water in it will evaporate faster, causing higher humidity

As Matty said the dial thermometers and hygrometers are inacurate, my one was 10% out. Get a digital one and see what it is.

TBH i don't bother with a hygrometer, dial or digi, normal room humidity is fine and if there's ventilation, water in the cool end, not a damp hide in and you're not misting it should be fine
