rightyo guys wondering who can help me on this;
my corn is currently (if serpentine widgets is correct) 77cm's or something.
and the problem is; my viv is 41cm by 21cm by 24cm (l,w,d) and wondering if it would do well in a 2ft by 3ft by 1ft viv? If not, I'd have to pack it out with the odd log and some more plants, as I beleive this is a suitable size for it to grow in.
I'd have an issue with heating, I'm going to use the bigger heat mat I have thats a 13.5 amp. yet how would I get this into the viv? as the plug has to come out somewhere and I'm not the electrian to take the plug casing apart! I will use a ceramic tile ontop of it, or is there no need with aspen on and the hide over the top...?
if not what would be a good way to make sure snake doesn't burn? I measured up earlier, correct in thinking that 12inches is a foot?
thanks guys!! |

Most wooden vivs have ventilation holes in the back, they normally pop in and out so you can get wires/plugs etc through. |

if you ask your parents they will most likely know how to take a plug apart for you to put through your viv. Watch them if they do as it's handy to see. My dad showed me and i do it all myself now |

Heres one of the vents on my Corns viv.
You have to pinch two sides of it to get it out, so no risk of it being pushed out.
Hope these help |

okay this is really a head bending subject for me!!
Would a 77cm (ish) do well in a packed out 3x2x1 viv?
and what should I use to cover the heat mat; ceramic tile or.. ?
cheers |

hillzi, are you sure the heat mat is 13.5 amps, Thats over 3000w it will be like a furnace. My Tynan is 2ft and his viv is 3ft*1.5ft*1.5ft but it is well packed out with hides and plants so i think you will be ok. It seems pointless covering the heat mat as the surface temp of the tile will only be the same as the heat matt would be. Just stick the sides down with low tac masking tape so blaze cant crawl under it. |

will be masking taping it down!
I;m only using it for the size, not power output. it doesn't heat up enough as my 8watt one! sorry meant 13.5watt!!
I'd have to invest in a new heatmat; approx. 1/3rd of 1.5ft (sounds a bit more sensible) so would be a 6" heatpad.
Thanks guys. |

i just use a piece of lyno over my mats and dont bother putting substrate over it,that way you get a accurate temp reading, snakes only seemtp ush the substrate out the way anyway. |

Lino is short for linoleum. Its a plastic used in flooring etc. In simple terms, ( No offence meant ) plastic kitchen/bathroom floor tiles. Or it can be bought in bigger pieces from carpet shops etc. |

i think it would be better not to use tape inside your tank if it spossible because i saw a video on youtube where someones snake got stuck to masking tape and its missing a strip of scales around 3 inches long |

When I got my first viv it had some residue from tape on the inside,Sid got stuck on it (3 months old) It took half an hour to bathe him in order to remove him from the side. |
