I found this today, after a quick google I have decided its female, though im not sure on what species it is.

That looks like it's only about the same size as the last bone in your finger, if it is, then it's probably a juvenile male. The antlers look to big to be female, but the insect itself looks to small to be a full adult.
I'm not sure why people think these things are dying out, we get hundreds of the bloody things down here. It's when you see them wrestling on the roof then falling down the gutter pipe that makes you laugh. scratch, scratch, rattle rattle scratch.
Maybe they are less common in some parts of the UK, compared to now, but last year for about 2-3 weeks we were catching about 6 or 7 a night. |

Interesting, I think ive come across one im my whole life, lol. Do you know the best place to find them? Like under rocks or something |

They just seem to fly about, and land on roofs and near thick shrubs. That's where they've always been seen by me anyway. Usually late evenings in the summer/autumn.
