Great pics Kellog, good to see him getting stuck in, must be feeling a lot better in himself. When did you notice the mites?

Mites first noticed about a week ago. Was starting to shed and son noticed little black things running all over him. He hates his viv at moment, spending most of time in hide. Only got kitchen roll down and water bowl in. Talking about bathing him again tomorrow, cos we arent seeing any signs of mites, and maybe putting his wood back in (after baking it in oven). Not sure when to put substrate back in. He is happy being handled as I had to yesterday when he pooed on kitchen roll and had to clean out viv and handle him all at once. Climbed up inside jean leg. Managed to stop him going higher than my knee by putting my hands round leg above knee, so he decided to stay there, tongue flicking the back of my knee - which is very ticklish! Any advice on what to do with him now about mites? xxx

Was going to advise looking at Dilly's sticky on mites, but you have already been there. Other than what you see on the sticky I have nothing to add to it. If you're really stuck, get down the vets. Ally.

just noticed that you feed the mice with your hand. i would advise using tweezers. snakes see infrared and see mousey and your hand together and may start striking at the thermal image of you hand. got to admit i dont see the point in gaurds because snakes can just weave in and out of the mesh. but maybe thats just me

Thanks for comments and advice.
Handled Kellog tonight (he pooed on my son's jeans then tried to escape between photo albums, so acting normally!). No sign of mites. Have left him on kitchen roll still with hide and water bowl, but have put back branch (after if was cooked in oven) and will replace plants that are plastic and have been bleached and rinsed. But when can he return to being on substrate?
Do feed him by hand as did what previous owner did, no problems so far but will think about using tweezers as I dont fancy my fingers being mistaken for his dinner!
Not sure about bulb guard. He has never had one and happily goes up and around bulb without a problem. OH's attitude is that he never had one so why does he need one now. But would be devastated if he did get burnt..... Guard, no guard, I dont know.... xxx

wish I could remember where it was, but there was a pic of a snake that was very badly burned on a bulb. As others have said, its a matter of choice re guard, but for me I'd go with a guard. Hope mites soon go. Ally.
