Say hi to our 15 year old spur thighed tortoise Melvin:

We were given him just before winter and are currently working out whats best for him.

He's lived in a garden for 15 years and has been left to fend for himself most of the time. He hibernates by himself by digging a hole.

We are now feeding him on T-rex tortoise food and are planning on building a dog house with a heat-lamp in so he can stay toasty.

Other than that we are going to take him to the vets and get him checked out to see if he has worms etc.

He's escaped twice now but not got far due to the layout of our garden luckily.

He's awesome

hi there, he's a nice looking spur, may I suggest just one thing, get him off the processed food and let him feed on natural weeds, shelled warriors do a good seed mix for tort's for 89p I think. the only reason I suggest this, is that the processed food contains proteins which are very bad for tort's and can cause shell deformities.
Hope this help's, scott.

lost track of the day's now, but I'm getting my amel stripe corn on the 2nd of August!!!

awwww! i love tortoises!(i would have one exept i have a cat) he's sweet!

the amazing colour of the cornsnake, as it glides through the feild, never a mistake
so as not to wake
the hapless prey before it, this may as well roll over and close it's eyes as the silent hunter shall always get his prize.
the forked tounge can smell you mouse, red eyes can see you stir, if she does not wake and run now, that will be the end of her.
