Hi all, i used to feed in the viv for the first month before first full clean out (used to pick out the poop) But i didnt use aspen i used these reptile chip things as the pet shop didnt have aspen.
When i went in for the 2nd or 3rd lot of food when i first got my snake they had aspen in there so i brought a bag. Cleaned out my snake today as it was exactly one month yesterday but... i leave her tues, wed and thurs. (tues she is hungry, wed she feeds, thurs i let it digest a bit more)
Anyway back onto the subject, would it be best to feed the snake in a seprate container now that i have aspen to stop RI's or is this not nesissary? |

I would suggest feeding outside the viv, this can be something as simple as a cardboard box or cat litter tray. Just to stop the possibility of the aspen becoming lodged in the throat or over time causing impaction of the gut. |
lost track of the day's now, but I'm getting my amel stripe corn on the 2nd of August!!! |

Cheers mate, would it also stop RI's? (Just for future knowledge? )
Will search out some boxes, got a hoover box as my mum got a new hoover the other day, suppose that will be ok?

Hovver box will be okay for now, but a el cheapo plastc one would be better over long term because snakie will probaably pop the mouse at some point too, and plastic is easier to clean than cardboard. |

I just got a cat litter tray from poundland, it also came with a litter scoop which is ideal to spot clean the aspen. |

It has nothing to do with RI's. |

RI is a Respiritory Infection. This can be caused through excess humidity and other 'damp' problems.
Dunno why I didn't pick up on that earlier. It's Impaction that *could* be a risk on any substrates. Impaction is basically where they may swallow something that they'd have problems passing out the other end. |
