would of thought egg layer,i expect it's colubrid and i think only boas are live bearers,but i could be wrong

Dude there are many snakes that live bare there young, garter snakes are Ovoviviparous as are many water snakes including some types of sea snake.....

If I'm not mistaken (lol and I often am!) they used to catalogue snakes as old world if they we're egg layers and new world if they had live young. I think this term went out a long time ago but its a quick way of defining the two types.
I didn't mean to come across as a smart ass lee i call everyone dude (bad habit) and as you quite rightly pointed out we all learn something new everyday....
