New thread - just for hatchlings :-)

They are all out now - the last one, and the smallest, came out of the egg yesterday, so the incubator is officially switched OFF

The last baby is so tiny and does have a bit of funky pattern in one place. I didn't think that one would hatch, as the egg ( which l cut on Wednesday) had resealed itself and was showing no signs of life. Then the hatchling started making his own cuts, but took days to leave the egg.

And Scaly, you were right, some of the babies are little terrors. N 2 that was so tame and sweet from the egg is now biting repeatedly

I was quite surprised that all 9 eggs have hatched, especially as ithey were taken out of Baz's viv late, then divided when they were already attached... l only have 8 tubs that fit in the set up, so 2 babies are sharing a tub ( split in 2 with a divider ) - still plenty of room in there as they are so teeny ( for now...)

Many of them are already showing the thick Okeetee saddle markings, so hopefully would have inherited Twids good looks

Erm.... officially not allowed to - but ( whispers ) might have to...l'm sure they will be so hard to sell that one or two might just have to stay ;-)

The first 4 have shed now and l offered n 1,2 and 3 a pinkie just now. Number 3 did a proper strike! I couldn't believe it, he ate right there in front of me. He is the biggest, too.

N.1 is amazingly orange already, and really sweet to handle, but was completely ignoring the pinky and bolted out of tub several times.. so l expect the pinky will be untouched in the morning, probably same for n2. ( who is the worst biter ever! )

I really like the both smallest hatchlings - n. 6 ( who was pipping out of the egg in my hand ! ) and n.9 with its funky pattern ( l thought that one would never make it out of the egg ). But n. 1 is the nicest to handle ( and has really funny head pattern that looks like bunny ears )... not making any decisions yet, though.

By the way, even though l put a divider ( hard cardboard ) in the last tub, l found babies 8 and 9 together in the morning. I still don't know how they did it ( well, it was n.9 sneaking off to the n8 's side ) - but they are together for now and seem inseparable.
Always in the same hide, always intertwined - and today (as they are both in blue ) they performed a synchronised hissing and mock striking when went in to change water :-)

I will have to put them in separate little feeding tubs at least when the time comes to feed...

Ok, thanks, SBB, will try - but first will have to get my pics from my mobile to our ancient I mac ...the phone and computer aren't compatible, so have to download some program first ( unless l just get a tapatalk on my phone )...argh...not good with technology.

All hatchies bar n.9 have now eaten, some twice already. N.9 has been offered food 2x now, and left in a small tub with the pinkie, but is flatly refusing to eat :-/ Strangely, l think n. 9 is more unsettled since l split him up from his mate. I know they are supposed to be on their own ( and l had to split them as they are being fed now) - but l think they found security in each other. They were always in the same hide, intertwined, and would take it in turns mock striking and going "pffft" at me when l was changing water and checking on them.

Between them, Baz, and work they are keeping me pretty busy, and my neck is really playing up. Still, l'm glad l did it, just this once, for the experience. I just wish Baz had been ok...still, she is due to have her stitches out this Friday, so another step forward.
