Not my dog thankfully, that would break my heart, but the one belonging to the people I lodge with. It's so awful, I had to share somewhere :(
Poppy is a 2 year old westie, sweet little dog. She was a sickly puppy and I gotta say she's the funniest looking westie I ever saw, her ears are huge, her face is too long and wide and her legs are too long. I don't think they did the proper checks when buying her but they got a sweet dog they love.
Poppy has pretty much always had some trouble with her legs, I'm sure caused by the husband over exercising her when young. He would play a ball game with her and she would frequently go skidding after it with her legs bent unnaturally behind her. He never knew when to call it quits and she usually ended these sessions limping. He is a gigantic ass who is never wrong and was adamant she was fine cos she still wanted to play, so he never let her recover.
Last week I discovered two lumps behind her knee and couldn't find much info online. The closest I could find was a ganglion, although it didn't match precisely. She has also been walking hunched, as if suffering lower back pain or hip pain.
Over the last two days me and their son discovered lots of little lumps all over her and we became more concerned. The wife was nervous about the cost of the vet, but we said cost be damned, if she said no we'd kidnap her and take her anyway. She agreed to go to the vet and his first diagnosis was severe arthritis or hip displaysia. He wouldn't say the lumps were cancer but it was implied, she has to go back Monday for tests on them.
When they got back I looked up various cancers in dogs and found a page on lymphosarcoma. Using a diagram of the lymph nodes I had a feel and *all* of them are swollen including those behind her knees I first noticed. There are lumps in other places too. All have appeared in a few days.
There a tiny chance it's simply an allergy but there are no other signs of an allergic reaction, so I'm convinced it's cancer. I read that dogs go downhill in a matter f weeks once diagnosed, and if it does turn out to be cancer it's already stage three. They cannot afford to treat her, and I can't afford to help, so it'll be painkillers until the end. She's such a sweet puppy and the wife adores her dogs, she would do anything for the, f she could. The husband however infuriates me. He doesn't work (she brings home the pay checks) yet he buys motorbikes, computers, etc on a whim spending hundreds of pounds of her money. Yet he warns her to watch the vet bills and shouts at her if she dares spend more than £50. It's heartbreaking that she can't afford to help her dogs yet he will just **** away £150 on a whim. I don't know how or even why she puts up with him, I would have kicked him to the curb ages ago.
Sorry for the rant, this guy irritates thepoopoutta me and I feel terrible for the dog and wife :( |

Fingers majorly crossed, even though i rarely have money, i dont care if my pets need a vet, then they go, worry over the money later. I'd kick him out too, my OH knows how my pets mean to me, but luckily he has never refused any going to the vets. If the worst happens, please give your friend a hug from me |
