I've just moved one of my snakes to his new 30" monkfield Viv. I've done just after feeding him and it has struck me that may not be a clever thing.
The temps are right at 28.5-29ish (pulse stat) and 22.5ish and there is masses of cover along with 3 hides, bits of bark and a hollow cork log, one of which is his old one and I've purposely put that over the heat mat.
I need to feed my other snake too but will hold of after a bit of advice!!

I would say temps are the most important thing if he's just eaten, and they sounds fine to me. Maybe leave him a week or so before handling, to let him get used to his new home 
Is your other snake being moved viv too? |

He is, they're both the same age (from the same parents) and are ready to move from current their 18" homes. I wasn't planning on handling him for a week (effectively treating him like new) so definitely won't now. I'll just keep an eye on him and see that he's okay,I was just concerned over a regurge but both of my snakes have always been great eaters, even eating when blue etc..

I'm with Freddiesmum and Lupilou on this Gaz. It's not ideal to have fed him and then put him straight into a new home but your temps are perfect and he's got things in it that have his old smell. I'm sure you won't have any issues, especially as you're leaving him for a week now to settle in.
This might be a bit late but personally I'd change the order for your other one, either feed it and leave it for the 48hrs before moving it or move it and give it a few days to settle in. To my mind it's always better to be safe than sorry but your snakes are fairly 'well adjusted'  so I doubt there will be any problems.

Thanks for the responses Lupi Lou and Kellog.
Both have been moved and in all honesty are fine, I've kept a close eye on the them and at various stages they've spent time in all of their hides and I've caught them exploring on a couple of occasions so all's well I guess.
Next time I move them though (as they'll finish in a bigger viv than their new 30" ones), it won't be immediately after a feed!! |
