So all 3 of the reps are getting upgraded to 4ft vivs at the start of next month in Masuka's one, i'd like to use slate rather than the reptile carpet I've been using so far. Does anyone have slate in their vivs? Any handy hints on how to go about it/where to get it? Would this do?:

I quite like the colour.
I've tried googling about slate in vivs but not coming across anything of much use. I have no idea where to start, any advice would be appreciated! |

I think that's what I've got down in my bathroom . All of my heatmats are covered with vinyl slate but I use Lignocel as a substrate, a light sprinkling over the heatmat and deeper in the cool end. Nearly all my snakes like to burrow, especially at this time of year. As I sit here Kellog is in the warm end with only part of his body showing as he slips through the Lignocel and towards the cool end.
Sorry I can't help.

There are a few gecko keepers who have theirs on slate tiles, they just put them down in the viv and some have put a small amount of sand in the gaps ( not something I would do as am paranoid about sand). I have mine on a slate effect lino which I love. Only thing you would have to be careful with is the thickness of the tile, |
