Hi there.

I have a couple of baby corns. One is about 6 months, the other 4 months, and wanted to ask about vivarium sizes. I have them in exo terra 30x30x30cm terrariums, but wanted to know if a wooden vivarium Length x depth x height: 57.5cm x 37.5cm x 42cm (23" x 15" x 16.5") would be suitable. Thanks in advance!

Sam

I didn't make it clear, but I mean two vivariums of that size, i do not intend on housing the pair together.

Cheers,
Sam

Depends how big they are. My 5 month old babies are in 10 litre plastic boxes which give them plenty of space for now.

Taken from the care sheet on this site;

quote:
Corn Snakes are not highly active and do not need huge enclosures. A medium sized vivarium (Even a fish tank with a tight fitting lid) will house your Corn Snake nicely. The vivarium should allow a minimum of 1 square foot of floor space to each foot of snake and be approximately a third of the snake’s length in height. Hatchlings should start out in an appropriately sized small vivarium as they can become stressed and stop feeding in an oversized vivarium

As to housing tiny babies in vivs, be careful if they have sliding glass. Corns are escape artists and it is entirely possible for baby corns t get out through the gap where the glass overlaps.

2.2.3 Corn snakes; Red, Rosie, Liana, Checkers, Luna, Diego, Snowman
1.0 Taiwanese Beauty Snake; Aleron
1.0 Green Anoles; Doug
1.0 Greyhound; Lee

Some babies get a bit stressed if they have too much space, but, I got my 4 month baby a 86cm x 37.5 x 42 and he's fine in there :) he has loads of hiding places and regular changes to keep him keen and exploring! So yes, that size wooden viv would be fine as long as your babies feel safe :)
