Hey all, bit of advice or some opinions please.

My sons new corn is about 5 months old. The shop he came from fed all of their corns by simply putting them in a small tub with the pinky, they had lots so I guess this is much less labour intensive for them than any other method. We have fed him already and he took it no problems by using the same method - had a bit of a smell then a couple of nudges and away he went (feet first mind but no problems).

The guy in the shop we bought him from recommended NOT strike feeding as he said it would make the snake more aggressive. Any opinions of this view? We have a few shops that sell snakes in our area and they all seem think strike feeding is no problem.

My son would like to try to strike feed next time but I just want to do what is best all round

Thanks in advance.

strike feeding does not make the snake aggressive, that is total bunkum.

it may strike feed next time or not, usually as they get older they will strike. However until the snake is in a settled feeding pattern with you i would feed as the shop has for now.

Hey gmac, thanks for the quick reply! I'm glad you said that - I figured the snake striking was a pretty natural reaction to food to be honest so your reply makes sense.

thing is don't be disappointed if it doesn't strike, some snakes take time to strike feed but most will usually do so in the end.

My corn started off not strike feeding but once I offered it a warm pray it struck first time. I like the fact Jake strikes at his food but he has never struck at me so I agree with gmac on this one.

My corn strike feeds and he is the most docile snake any other time, also i know it's not a corn but my royal goes crazy at feeding time striking at anything that moves but again he also gets handled by my niece with absolutely no sign of aggression :)
