Hiya guys

I have some glue which can be used safely in fish tanks (ie it doesn't leach anything into water) and I've used it successfully loads of times. So I was wondering if it was safe to use to glue the heat mats down in both vivs?

I was going to put small blobs of glue all round the clear area of the heat mat and then press down. It's quick drying so should be stuck down within 10 seconds.

I have read that on here that people use glue-guns to secure their heat mats, so I'm guessing that I'll be okay using the aquatic glue that I've got?

Thanks in advance for any answers.

Best wishes

The only concern of mine would be how long it takes for the fumes to go, unless you can provide a temporary home (heated rub?) for a while then it wouldn't be a concern.

I have used aquarium sealant to stick the edges of the mats down, but it then needs to be left for 48 hours for the fumes to dissipate. You would need to house the snake somewhere else for the 48 hours. I only stick the very edges, not the bits that heat up, seems ok so far.

Same as others have said. I used aquarium glue for willow's heat mat but that was when she went up to her new viv so it had time for the fumes to subside!

It's okay I've got her old faunarium which she could go into temporarily.

The only reason I want to glue it down is because I've noticed Tango's heat mat moves around quite a lot even with a large Exo-Terra hide on it.

Thanks for your everyone.

Best wishes
