Just a bit of advice I would like, I purchased my corn on Monday and was told that he was fed the day before, I have seen my corn exploring quite a bit over the last two days so wondering if I should still miss the feed he is due on Sunday and wait until the following Sunday or not? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure why the previous keepers would feed him a day before he had to travel to his new home, bit silly!

But I don't see why you couldn't feed him when he is due on Sunday

Well ive tried to feed Draco however he doesn't seem interested in it, tried to get him to strike but no luck not sure what I can do now? The pet shop said this snake was their best feeder so am I doing something wrong?

No, I would suggest just leaving it with him for a few hours, he might be interested but he might still feel uneasy in his new surroundings, so is too shy to strike. If you can leave him in the dark with it then do so, some of mine won't eat unless it's dark and they are alone. Make sure it's nice and warm, and you can try braining as well just to increase the appeal.

Don't worry if he doesn't eat this time, it won't do any harm. Even the best eaters (if there is such a thing) don't eat everytime.

I only have two snakes but I am amazed how different they are at feeding, although Rosie is a year older. I feed them out of their vivs and she will strike and coil within seconds of the mouse entering the RUB. Jim is only six months old and eats well but only if left in private. I have to cover his RUB with a cloth first!

Week should be ok. I just had my first ever proper refusal ( after keeping snakes for nearly 3 years ) - my most voracious feeder, Bazilishka, plainly refused to eat, no matter what I did. So, Twid got the mouse instead, and Baz had to wait another 6 days, making the gap 16 days between feeds. She took the mouse this time, no probs.

Perhaps it's because it's in the middle of winter now, and even though they're not hibernating, they sense the time of the year , and slow down a bit.

Good luck next time, best try to sneak the warmed up mouse in the viv, in the evening, and leave it with him in the dark, completely undisturbed - just in case. Hope he takes it :-)

Tried feeding again today as it was a week after the first attempt and it appears to have ended the same way, he lashed at it but wouldn't take it as if he was afraid of it so I'm wondering if the shop didn't know what they are on about as they said he was on smalls. He also wouldn't take it after I brained it, and on his chart I have looked into it rather than what they told me about him being their best feeder, and it suggests on there that it hasn't fed since the 17th of November, so I'm a little worried about it, he is active and loves being handled and seems healthy but concerned about the non feeding.

How big is he? You can offers something smaller, or try something different. If he's big enough to manage a rat pup you could offer one of those. Some of my babies would only eat pieces of chick at first, so you could try offering chick thighs.

What is the situation with Draco now Simon? Have you managed to get him to eat?
