So me and the OH have reserved a sub adult sunglow as a joint Xmas prezzy to each other! We're getting him next mknyh and I'm so excited! The oldest snakes we have are yearlings so at 3 years he'll be the oldest and lArgest snake we'll have! In the store he was bugging to get out and was such a charming placid fella to hold! He's been at the shop almost two years so we can't wait to give him a nice new home!! Just got to find a name! Still sinking in we now 'technically' own 5 snakes. It was so easy to get the big to bite my OH :)

I'm so glad that you are able to offer this guy a home . 2yrs is a long time to live in a pet shop , it's about time he had a 'forever-home'.
I was the opposite to you, having only ever dealt with adults we recently took on a yearling. I was SO nervous handling him for the first time! Can't imagine what it must be like dealing with hatchlings, he was small enough.
Love the fact that your OH has caught the bug too .
So we got him yesterday and have named him Sherlock. Turns out he's 4 years old! When I first went to get him we spotted a dead more on him so te owner kept him in the weekend to oil bathe him and check on him and make sure he was healthy. Went back yesterday and no sign on mites on him plus oil bath did him good so we took him home. He's in a rub in quarantine now but me and my dad are building a viv stack now my other baby's are growing so hopefully we can move him in that within the year! At the shop he was in a tiny fauna ruin so it was nice to move him into his bigger home with some hides in and he settled quickly! He even fed that night and he is so placid. Such a good temperament! Have some photos that I will post (in the right section this time ) :)

I'm so pleased he's home with you, away from that pet shop. I'm not surprised that he might have had mites after living there. Well done for keeping him quarantined. One thing I'd suggest is that there is the smallest chance he might still have mites so it might be a good idea to keep him on kitchen roll for a while. That way you can spot any little black dots crawling around and also any red dots of his blood from where the mites have been feeding. I've had to deal with mites once and it is not easy to get rid of them.
It's brilliant that he's already taken a feed and has such a good temperament. He's going to be a lovely addition to your family .
