Hi all.
I have a 3 year old female corn.
It's now been over 4 weeks since she last ate.
She used to be straight up to investigate when I offered mousey to her. Now she might give it a quick sniff but generally goes back to being curled up and ignores the thing, unless you try and put the mouse right up to her in which case she slinks off to her cave hide.
Viv temps are fine and she seems generally healthy. A few weeks ago I thought she was making a sneezing sound but nothing since and no wheezing etc.. Judging by the white poo I keep picking up she is drinking.
I've got her booked in at the vets a week on Wednesday.
I might try popping a mouse in the viv and leaving it for a couple of hours tomorrow to see if she takes it.
Just wondered if anyone else had similar experience?

4 weeks is nothing for a snake, my male was off his food for 4 and a half months. I wouldn't be too concerned just yet, make sure you are only offering food on the days she is due to be fed as offering it too often can just stress them out and make them refuse more. You can try different prey to entice her (my female liked rat pups when she was off her food after laying), or have a look here for more ideas.

Hi all
She's not been weighed but I suspect the vet will do so in just over a week's time. I'm also going to try and get a poo sample (hopefully she'll drink sufficiently to provide one!).
As we speak I have left a mouse in the viv. I'm resisting the temptation to look but did just peek through the crack in the door... she has positioned herself in the cool end away from the mouse.
I will avoid handling her for a whilst (other than for vet visit).
Cheers for your comments.. shall keep you posted if any developments. |

After 7 weeks of not eating Fuzzy went into blue the day before the vet visit so that had to be cancelled.
She shed quickly but was a dirty one. I had to help her out with a few bits of skin but eyes were ok.
Anyway, tried to feed again and she didn't appear interested so left the mouse in viv. After an hour mouse had gone!
Shall limit handling to every other day and hope she continues to eat. |

That is good news, but if it happens again and she is healthy, dont worry, it is normal for them not to eat for months, why they do it, i dont know, wish i could do that! |

Cheers guys
I've decided to cut down her handling a little just in case that was stressing her. |
