| It varies. Baz used to do one poop per feed, then for a while 2 poops. She does just 1 per feed now, whilst Seb does 3 per mouse- one 2-3 ays after feed, another 2 days later, and third another 2 days later! They look absolutely normal, though, and the third is just mouse fur, so I don't worry. I find hatchlings often go more, if mine are anything to go by :-) |

| I have had mine a month now and he invariably goes when he is out being handled. Just changed the bed clothes for the second time this week! All looks quite normal though! Seems to go more if he is nervous - or in a new situation - but could be imagining that? |

It's both - they can poop if nervous, but they can also poop during handling, as they warm up more, and are excersizing - which get things moving ;-)
If you want to save the bedclothes, watch out the tell tale signs: STOP, STARE, TAIL LIFT.
Just before they go, they give you a warning, they freeze, appear to be staring into " nowhere ", then they lift their tail - and you better be ready with a tissue... :-0
Or, you could put an old towel down. |

| Just had my guy out on the bed. Noticed the telltale signs, then realised I had no tissue at hand, had to hold my hand under him and let it happen. Not pleasant, definitely remember a towel/tissue/anything but your own hand! |

I've been lucky by the sounds of it. Mine has never gone on me yet. He usually has a bulge towards his rear and will usually lift his tail vertically just before going. So hopefully if it does ever start to happen I can get him to the viv quickly lol.
King snake on the other hand, is a total different story. She tends to save it for when she gets out of the vivarium.

Probably a silly question, but I was expecting snake poo to stink and be easily noticeable visually too.
However, I still can't find a poo from phoenix even though he's been feed a fair amount since I got him.
Maybe he's saving up one humongous poop for me.

4 weeks.
He's only been on pinkies and is fine in every other way.
I will be giving him his first fuzzie tomorrow so hopefully that will get him doing a nice big poop.
I've shifted his substrate around and can't find any poo, so I assume he's not been.

OK, so been 96 hours since he had his first fluff, (pinkies for the three previous weeks).
Cleaned out his viv today, still no poo at all.
Should I be worried? |

| Pop him in the bath for a bit if you're really worried, always does the trick for mine. Nothing like a nice relaxing swim to loosen up the bowels lol |

| They stick their head up anyway, but for our little king snake I put 1-2 inches, at about 20-22 degrees celcius. If you use the bath or sink make sure to block off the overflow outlet, or use a washing up bowl to be safe. |

OK, just gave him a bath. He didn't seem to like it and thrashed about a bit to start with but eventually calmed down.
He was in there a good 5 minutes and I then 'cuddled' him to dry him off before returning him to his viv.
Still no poop though.
He doesn't look like he has any obvious bulges or anything and doesn't seem to be uncomfortable moving around.
I know snakes are extremely efficient digesters. So is this normal? That maybe he only needs to poop only once a while? |

I didn't think he would like it lol. Luna and Boots hate it. Diego, however, loves it.
My big guys only poop once every couple of weeks, but it's always massive and stinky. The hatchies all poop once or twice a week, it's always very small and hardly smells at all. Maybe keep Phoenix on newspaper or kitchen roll for a while, so any poops are easier to notice? Could be you're just missing them. |
