I think I'm nearly there with my set up for my new crestie 
I plan on putting a heatmat on the back (on a stat obviously) for the winter as my house gets a little too chilly.
I'm going to used kitchen roll for a substrate, at least to begin with, as my reserved gecko is quite small and quite young (8 weeks old when I will collect him/her). I will be putting eco earth (dampened) in the hide on the floor so that there is a humid hide if the gecko wants one.
I would have liked to get one of these too http://www.pet-tech.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=ilvm_fly_easy_shopping_dark_green.tpl&product_id=59&category_id=29&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=111 but I would have to order it from USA and it gets a little pricey for what is essentially a magnetic hide without a back on it.
I'm toying with the idea of getting a vine to put in there too for some extra climbability.
What do you think? Do I need a vine and another hide? I know there's supposed to be a bit of room for jumping about too. |

Mine never used hides at all; just hid behind their plants (or out in the open when they felt like it!) - can't go wrong with a vine

I'm currently trying to resist reserving a second gecko from the same breeder. They would both be the same age (and therefore very similar size) and the breeder currently keeps clutch mates together (although these aren't clutch mates). Do you keep crested geckos alone or with others? Obviously I would be prepared to split them up if one or both of them turned out to be male or at the first signs of actual fighting even if they were both female.
Just had to share a photo of the little Halloween pin that I have reserved. Only two weeks until I can collect him/her.

Love the set up but i would include a vine as they arnt platforms taking up lots of room, jus string around the enclosure fro climbableness aha.
That crestie is soooo cute!
Where did you get the fan plants?
Here is a pic of my set up to get an idea :) -
Sorry it looks dark, his UV light was on aha. He has a rock background, orchid plant, two hanging plants, bamboo branch and vine :)

Yours looks great. I think I'm definitely going to have to get a vine.
I got the fan plants from swell reptiles, they aren't quite as big as I thought they would be but they have wire in the stems so you can bend them to where you want them. They call them artificial canopy plants I think.
Buckley is gorgeous! He looks like he's got a couple of tiger stripes down his side, so pretty! It seems like such a long wait to collect my little one and time is going so slowly! I'll just have to enjoy photos of other people's geckos to keep me going  |

Yes, a few folk have said yellow tiger morph, you seem his stripes a lot better in person :)
I got him from a local rep shop, i was going to wait until doncaster, but i didnt like the way they were kept (there were two) so had to atleast take one :/ They were kept in a flatish faun with an exo terra hide. The guy even said he got them in the night before we got them and he hadnt been bothered to change their set up :s But aw well, he's a happy bunny now aha. |

| Thanks SBB. I'm not sure if some of my plants are going to stay stuck with a crestie hanging off them, even if it's a tiny one. I might need to resort to blue tack inside the suction cups like I did with some of my corn vivs. |

Aww, what an adorable little baby Moppet,and your set up looks fantastic  You really want to get 2 though  I'm wondering if a girlfriend or 2 would make a difference to Phosphor, might stop him hiding away all the time |

Thanks hissyfit Haha, I should have expected that response on this forum. I have this feeling that I could end up bringing a trio home from Doncaster... knowing my luck they would all end up being male or not getting along and I'd have to have three separate enclosures! Ah well, I enjoyed setting this one up and I think it's a nice looking addition to the room. Three enclosures wouldn't be too bad
Maybe Phosphor is still settling in. I read somewhere that it can take them a month or so to feel truly settled in a new home. I hope he'll get more confident and spend more time where you can see him soon |

Its just that; to join 'Team Crestie'I would not want to risk the whole courier trip on a little guy-sooo that means a great big expensive hike via car ferry then long drive.
Suddenly Delightful little Crested Dragony fella is a good £100-£130 MORE expensive than he should be
Do any of you guys know of any south coast Crestie breeders? |

I see your problem MJ, its why i didnt wait until Donny to get my Buck, i was affraid the 6+ hour train ride would be an issue.
Hopefully you will fine one close by soon enough. Have you looked on preloved etc?

Poor Phosphor seems to be very sensitive, and doesn't appear to have moved in the last few days. I put his hide back this morning after thinking if he feels safe in it, may as well let him have it!
I never realized how sensitive they are, so hopefully he'll have settled down in a month or so and start getting used to the 'living room' sounds Just in time for us to go on holiday and put him into boarding...expect we'll be back to square one again  |
