Hi guys, so apologies if I'm worrying for nothing, but I just wanted to ask a quick question about shedding frequency. Basically, my yearling male last shed for me on the 21st of July, so just less than a month ago, and I came home from work today to find him in blue again (his eyes are still clear, but his skin has that distinctly dull cast to it. I know that very young corns shed very frequently but I didn't think this applied to yearlings, and I know from his records that the interval between his previous two sheds was longer. He is growing very fast at the moment as he's recently been put onto a diet of mostly smalls, and to tell the truth the thing I'm mostly worried about is that these quick sheds are a sign that he's growing too fast (if there is such a thing) and I'm wondering whether to bring more fuzzies back into hi diet.

So in short, the question is, is it normal for a yearling corn (approx 65-70 cm and 76g) to be in blue less than a month after shedding, and if not, could it have any complications or be a symptom of a more serious problem?

Thanks! :)

Corno is about to turn 2, and is still shedding pretty much every month (was every 2 over winter, then got more often again come spring) - in fact she is due to shed any day now!

If he's just gone up a food size then that will definitely give him a growth spurt, so don't worry, it's totally normal :)

To me all corns grow at different levels so shall shed at any time and at no distinct pattern such as once a month. I wouldnt worry :) he's just growing up :3

Ah, thanks for putting my mind at ease guys, I do tend to worry a lot, and usually for no good reason :P Well now that I'm not fretting, I'm actually quite excited; woo, second shed for me :D Last time he shed though I was away for the weekend; I'm away Sunday and Monday this weekend so knowing my luck he'll probably shed super-quick so I'm not in again :P Hopefully he'll hold out though :)

Yep, perfectly normal. They tend to go through growth spurts, it's summer, and you've just upgraded his food... My Bazilishka is 3, and she sheds every roughly 40 days in summer. Yours is still quite young, they grow most in their first two years, then slow down a bit, but still keep growing till around 5, from what I've heard. After that they only grow by tiny bit... Fingers crossed you get to see him shed :-)
