OK, for those of you that don't know, we got Prism (a CRB) just over a year ago at 1 month old and had terrible problems with her feeding. We tried all sorts of things, eventually resorting to assisting when she became so thin and weak we thought she was going to die. After getting her back up to strength we tried alternating weeks assisting and various methods again but she wouldn't eat except when assisted. Then came a breakthrough, one night we drop fed same as we had done several times before and she finally took it!

She successfully fed for a while, then went into blue... after which she completely stopped feeding again even after shedding We persevered for a bit, but after a while of her refusing and starting to lose weight again we once again resorted to asssisting.

A few weeks back we decided she was looking really good, so even though it was frustrating because we didn't want her to lose her good condition, it was time to try again. Six weeks with no food at all just for a change - bear in mind every single time she would show real interest in the food, sniff around at it for ages, then go off.

Last night we were back on the 'OK, which method is it time to try again?' and this time it was super heating with hairdryer and try waving it around (previous week for example it had been heated then dropped overnight to no avail). As per usual we were not expecting anything. OH opened the viv thinking she was in her hide, I looked over and said 'no she's not, she's hanging in her vines to your left' and next moment *BAM* she struck, coiled, landed with the mouse in the water bowl, sat there for a minute or so, then proceeded to eat it half submerged!!!!!

OMG we were so thrilled, she's finally, after a whole year, proven she does have snake instincts after all, they just took a while to kick in!!

Please please please let this be the end of our feeding worries with her and not just a one-off!!!

Go Prism! Well done girl :-)

Blimey, SB, you have been through a lot with her - I know that had it been me, I'd be panicking and stressing all that time! You've done really well getting her where she's today. Hopefully, she's cracked it now, and will continue to feed well now.

Thanks all - it certainly shocked us I can tell you! She's never so much as head butted or s'd up or anything. Couldn't believe it when she landed in the water - we were sure being cold and wet would put her back off it again - maybe we should leave the food in her water bowl from now on lol :P

It has been a bit of a stressful ride I have to say Razee - but she's worth it, and I'm REALLY hoping that will be the end of it lol!
