So back in May I took a school trip to Jersey Zoo. Here are some of my reptile photos. Most were taken with my new macro lens which I am still learning to use properly. If you want to see more photos, including baby gorillas and Orang-utans, they are here:

Bearded Dragon - loved her colours
 Blue tongued skink plus lunch
A Wall lizard - not in the zoo but an introduced species to the island
 Is this a Gila monster?
 Komodo Dragon
 Unknown lizard
 Unknown lizard
 Unknown Lizard
I think this was known as a white headed iguana
 Juveniel
Mountain chicken - named due to its taste.
 Unknown frog
 Blue poison frog
 Golden Poison Frog
 Mission golden-eyed tree frog
 Unknown Frog
I think this is their Jamaican Boa
 Red Tailed Ratsnake
One of their corns. I watched this one shed during a talk.

Great pics, thank you for sharing. I think the ones of the unknown green lizard are my favourite. You should put some of those on istock and see if they sell. |

Nice pics, not been to Jersey for a while.
Yeh that's a Gila. Think the green one is a Green Crested Lizard. 8th pic might be a rhino iguana. The Jamaican Boa is a Burmese Python. |

Thank you Callazagy. However, I don't think I can edit the post now. I loved Jersey and am keen to go back! |

The reptile house is not huge. I would guess my photos show at least 2/3 of the reptiles but maybe only half of the amphibians. I did get to go round the back to see some of the captive breeding programs. These pages give an overview of their important stuff. However not all of these are on display, or even at the zoo as a lot of the conservation work is done on site.

However I loved Jersey and would highly recommend it as a holiday. It is even possible to stay at the zoo, either in a hostel or glamping. What it really brought back to me was how important Gerald Durrell's books were to me growing up. |
