I have named my little Olive housies I had to wait until I got to know them a little first but it fits so well.
I have called the female Hera. She is quite shy and very quick when being handled. She is currently sitting looking at a mouse and debating whether or not to eat it.
The male, Zeus, is a very very confident little chap.
I actually got him slightly cheaper than he should have been because he had only fed three times and two of those had been force feeds. However he has already eaten for me twice! The first time only two days after he arrived. And again today. He's so confident he didn't care about me taking photos and even did a parade to show off the bump (and look for more...)
It looks like a huge bulge but it was the smallest pinkie I have ever seen. Less than 1g in weight...just shows how tiny they are. So proud of Zeus and hoping that Hera will begin to follow his lead when she feels more settled. |

Thank you both. The iridescence is actually much more intense in real life, it's so tricky to capture on a photograph. |

Haha, Aphrodite is on mediums...she wouldn't turn down a pinky though, even after eating a medium. "Wafer thin mint madam?" |

They are beautiful and good to see feeding. I fed a leftover pinkie to my 4 year old corn the other day, it was like a little chicken nugget to him ha ha |

Awww yay! Especially if he was a tricky feeder previously :D
Ha ha, we need more people to get housies - and name them after the rest of the Greek gods to see if we can get a complete set - who's going to have a Hephaestus? lol :P |

Thanks everyone
Well, Hera has decided she didn't want her pinkie which is a shame I hope she will eat next time, I will offer whenever I feed Zeus so that it isn't too often. She last ate on 17th June (with the breeder) so she's got a few more weeks before it becomes an issue, maybe she just needs to settle in a bit more, or maybe she's going into shed - her colour has changed a lot recently and become much more lime greeny than olive. |

That's OK Blackcat - you'll just have to get another one rofl!!!
Oooh sounds like it Moppet. I hope she sheds for you soon - she'll probably start feeding ferociously once she has :P |

HaHa - I don't think so just yet Moppet - I hope Hera feeds soon, hopefully once she has shed. Always something to worry about, Hoggle must be due a shed soon but showing no signs that I can see |

Oh what beautiful little snakes... This 'Other Reptile Photos' board is just making me want more and more different snakes, now I've got to add an olive house snake to the list previously only containing a hognose and a MBK :P
Congrats on the little boy feeding anyway and hope the girlies follows suit soon :) |

Thanks all.
Coal - That sounds very familiar. That's what got me into housies in the first place. Too many nice photos on here. I also have a BRB with my name on it (once it is born). I blame the other forum members entirely
Smartbunny and blackcat - I hope she is shedding, that would explain why she seems interested in the pinkie but then doesn't eat it. Her colour has definitely changed. The breeder said it normally does throughout their cycle depending on when they are going to shed. Have there been obvious signs of getting ready to shed from your housies? Do they go blue like corns or is it less obvious? tbh I think Zeus and Hera are so tiny it might be easy to miss it... |

Hoggle shed about two days after I first got him and it was awful, came off in bits I now think he is in shed cycle again but can't be certain, he appears to be quite dull so assuming he will 'clear' and then shed. I can only assume this is what will happen as I hadn't had him long enough to notice any changes, also I only got some rather erratic feeding records. Hoggle is an albino, so I can only describe his looks as a little 'peachy' like Morse my amel corn snake goes. Hope this helps a little |
