Hi all, so I just decided to pop in to a pet shop near where I work, more out of curiosity and a desire to see some animals than anything else. I recognised as soon as I went in that the condition of the animals was mediocre at best so I wasn't impressed but I decided to have a nose around anyway. I wasn't expecting them to have snakes but upstairs they had a pair of what seemed to be (rather skinny) adult corns sharing a viv. One was clearly an amel but the other... well I have no idea, and that's what this thread's about.
I didn't have the presence of mind to take a photo at the time, but I can go back tomorrow and get one if necessary because I'm really curious to find out what it was. It was a rather pale yellowish colour but the weird thing was it seemed to have a green tinge, and I've never heard of a greenish morph before. I didn't get a look at its belly except that it seemed to be slightly paler but its bag had a sort of rounded zigzag pattern of darker dots... Sorry I know this is an awful description!
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if you guys told me it wasn't even a corn; it could have been a hybrid or something else entirely for all I know - the viv wasn't labelled in any way and I'm only assuming because the other snake in the viv was definitely an amel corn.
Any help identifying it would be great - will try to get pics tomorrow |

OK... Erm XD I can only think of one pale green corn which is the Green Spot Snow but will go searching. In the mean time - http://iansvivarium.com/morphs/species/e_o_obsoleta_and_e_o_quadrivittata_intergrade/horry_county/ ? Random I know but you said green-ish yellow with dark spots and a a zigzag pattern and for some reason I thought of that so thought I'd ask. Will go searching for green-ish corns now lol.
Another thing I thought of, Hypomelanistic Yellow Rat Snake? I am just guessing here lol. A picture would be helpful but that's what I gto from the description. |

Hiya, thanks very much for your help!
It was a little darker than the green spot snow you mentioned, and more yellowy, and it didn't have the 'saddle' markings on its back as far as I could see, though I guess it could have been a morph with an altered back pattern on top of being a green spot snow. It definitely wasn't the snake you linked; the markings were much less pronounced. The hypomelanistic rat snake does look a little more promising; it had a few more markings than the ones google search showed me but I still think it could have been that...
Just seems strange that a random little high street pet shop would have something like any of those; wonder where they got it from :P

Well Green Spot Snows are Selectively Bred aren't they so they could have randomly popped up in a Snow clutch lol. It could have been a Zigzag Green Spot Snow but I'm not sure if they even exist let alone how rare they'd be? |

Yeah it was definitely darker and more yellowish than the bubblegums I've seen online, though thanks a lot for the suggestion Silver :) |

Okay so Pictures!
Just a warning, these are terrible. They're taken with my phone camera and the little bugger was lying write up against the wooden border at the front of the viv. so the angles are all... no. Anyway, hopefully they'll help a little:
His (her? I have no idea) adorable little face (ignore the fella' at the back):
And his back (couldn't get a ventral shot, sorry!):
So any ideas chaps? Would really appreciate it if someone could identify this mysterious little guy (not that I'm tempted or anything...) |

Could it possibly be a Hypomelanistic Brooks King Snake or something similar? Lampropeltis Getula Brooksi.
Just thought of something else it could be! A Hypo Speckled King Snake! Lampropeltis Getula Holbrooki. |

Definitely not a Gopher, Pine or Bull snake as the head shape and patterns are wrong. I still think it's either a Speckled or a Brooks King Snake. Just looking at head shape |

Definitely not a corn lol!! I also thought a pit of some kind from that head shot, could be king though... Have you actually asked the shopkeeper? Would probably be a lot easier! |

Thanks for your replies everyone <3
I wasn't sure it was a corn either, just because I'd never heard of a morph like it, but now that I think about it it's head shape was a little odd, it was quite blocky but narrower at the base than most corns; it looked more sleek.
And I did ask the shop keeper; they insist it's a corn... :/ |

Looks like a king snake of some sort to me, too, but difficult to say from pics.
If it is, I certainly wouldn't be happy keeping it in with a corn snake, even though the corn looks big enough not to be eaten... |
