Not sure if this is the correct area to post this, HOWEVER - Does anybody here dust pinky mice with calcium for baby snakes, or any other foods for your snake for that matter? Just sort of dawned on me about this and ad to ask. I dont want to be doing anything wrong D:

I don't use anything Hayley but, to quote Razee 'The general feeling is, that the mice contain everything the snake needs, and supplements aren't necessary. Some breeders do add calcium ( and vit D ) during breeding season, to breeding females, some don't.
I must admit, I add reptile vitamin and mineral + calcium supplement to roughly every 6th or 8th feed ( I vary this a lot ). I'm doing this, as I feel that in nature, the snakes would also get the various stomach contents of the mouse, which, too, might ad to their diet. As I can't be sure, what the mice I'm feeding mine, have been fed on ( or, to be honest, even where they come from ) - so I can't see any harm in supplementing - as long as it's not overdone, and not done at every meal.'...... Thanks Razee !!

Xxx

It's up to you - mostly people say they don't need it, on the other hand, pinkies and fuzzies are meant to be very low in calcium, so some books do mention supplementing calcium + vitamin D with those. I didn't supplement calcium with Bazil, but did every 5 -6 feed with Little T, and I do give them vitamin and mineral supplement roughly once every 6 - 8 weeks.
In theory, you shouldn't have to, as the mice are meant to be a complete diet. Many keepers/ breeders never supplement, and their snakes are healthy. Then there's an opinion, that they'd have more varied diet in nature, and they'd also benefit from whatever is in their prey stomachs. I think as long as you don't over dose and give the supplements only occasionally, it can't do any harm, and might even be of benefit.

At the end of the day, it's up to you, just make sure that if you do, it's a supplement made for snakes, and that you don't overdose.

Never really thought about supplements to be honest, might be worth a go every 4 feeds or so. No harm in trying i suppose
