| Hello,havent been here for quite a while but got a quick worry ! Our youngest corn snake Bill - nearly 2 yrs has refused his last 2 feeds - previously a good eater he then had a couple of regurges then took a mouse and has now refused the last 2, i have left him a good 10 days between each meal to let him settle, he is drinking fine ! when should i start to worry - is it a spring thing ?, he is not being overly active, whilst i am around to notice !(unlike Ernest who never stops at the mo!) advice would be lovely ta |

Did you offer him a smaller mouse 10 days after the regurges or his normal size? Sometimes offering a smaller mouse can tempt snakes into eating and it can be much easier to digest after a regurge. Spring thing is normally not eating completely, it is the regurges which don't seem to fit into that in my experience but others may disagree  |

| thanks Moppet it has just occurred to me to maybe offer a smaller mouse, i think the regurges may have been temp related as suddenly started having probs getting the temps right for him. Though they have been fine for the last few weeks ! i may leave the last mouse with him overnight and if its not taken maybe give him a little one in a few days. i would be getting more worried if he had,nt eaten since the regurges but it is beginning to bug me ! Thank you for advice i have been re- reading feeding advice but it is nice to hear it from someone when you,re in the worry zone ! |

I know we've chatted on Facebook Nicky but thought I'd comment here too. What issues are you having with the temps? Are all the probes in the right places? As I said there, a couple of Silvi's regurges could be put down to being in the cold hide, but not all of them.
I'm kicking myself for not suggesting going down a prey size  ! It's what I did with Silvi eventually and it worked. It's also what I did with Kellog to encourage him to think of food instead of females, by offering him smalls instead of the large mice he's used to....and that worked too.
If Bill doesn't eat the mouse you leave in with him don't give him a smaller one in a few days....wait until he's due his next feed. If you offer food more often than he's used to it will only stress him out and that's the last thing you want.
I agree with Moppet about this not necessarily being a 'spring thing'. Not only would he stop eating totally but he'd be noticeably active all the time. I know it took Silvi a bit of time to start eating regularly after her regurges, so hopefully with time Bill will do the same.
I totally understand about it being frustrating with them not eating, and worrying. It's why places like the forum and the Facebook group are so vital, not only for the advice but for the support and understanding as well. I know I'd probably have given up long ago if it hasn't been for here!.
