Lol, the stress of new snakes eh?! They are supposed to be a bit warmer than corns though, I keep Hermes' warm hide around 32-33 and he tends to stay there much more than the cold end :)

Cheers smart bunny, will tweek the temp up a little - just didn't want to over heat him, rather he was on the cool side than too hot.
He is a fast little thing too - nearly lost him out the RUB when taking the aspen out
Zeus and Morse weren't that fast as hatchlings.
The joys (stress) of snake ownership, but you know that better than me

Labyrinth?

Yes
May just have to get another snake so I can use both names
I initially thought Ludo, but swaying towards Hoggle the House snake

I LOVE Hoggle the house snake lol!! I don't know why, as I didn't with any of the other snakes, but for some reason when I was thinking of names I felt my housie just had to start with an H.

Not that there is anything wrong with Ludo obviously :P

Funny you say about him being nippy (as in fast not bitey) - I found the opposite! Ember was the flightiest little thing when I got her, was sure she was going to fly straight out of my hands a couple of times, but Hermes has always been so laid back he just chills whenever any of us hold him - totally relaxed on the kids as well, whereas the others normally try to make their way back to us

He was fine when I was handling him at the breeders, I think I probably startled him when I was removing aspen (concerned about it getting too hot) and he just shot from out of his cardboard hide and was almost out over the edge of the RUB before I new it.
Zeus was fairly fast, but more of him to get hold off when he made a 'run' for it.
Hoggle is so tiny, really like a piece of string - such a worry if I have to make a grab for him that I don't squish him
I had to source some tiny tiny pinkies for him, as the ones I used to get for Morse and Zeus would be far too large.

Hoggle the housie is a great name for him I wanted to call mine Hades or Nuru, but the kids didn't like either and Caleb was the only name we agreed on, and I'm still not sure of it!
I found Caleb to be fast when you pick him up, but calms right down when holding him. I lifted him last week when he was blue (I never noticed ), and he threw himself about, and I did get a fright until I saw his eyes.
Do be careful while feeding, they are really fast and when they strike it does make you jump

Choosing names is so difficult, it took me ages to sort names for the BRB's and CRB's.
I had an evening in with a friend watching Labyrinth and thought it would be ace to have a snake called Ludo. When she found out I had got another snake she just called it Hoggle, and I thought Hoggle suited him better than Ludo - will just have to find a snake that suits the name Ludo now
I am sure he will calm down once I manage to pick him up, but going to make sure he is feeding before I start to handle.
Thanks for the warning about how quick they are to strike - it would really catch me out because the breeder told me he didn't strike and was just drop fed - Monday will be feed night

Hermes was soooo gentle at first, it had to be held touching his nose for a few seconds and he would gently open his mouth and take it. A couple of times he seemed a little too shy so I actually held him on my hand to offer. Then one day it was a little warmer than usual - and I think he had also missed a feed due to shedding, and he made me jump a mile when he struck at it! He still alternates between very gentle one time then striking the next, I never know how he's going to be, but I always use tongs now rather than my fingers as I started out! One time I'd just changed his water after feeding and my hands were wet - hubby was there so I asked him to pop Hermes back in his faun... but hubby found it really awkward to pick him up as he's so little, and I didn't realise he had been handling mice too... so the only bite hubby has ever received was from Hermes - and it actually drew the tiniest little pin-***** of blood!! He didn't hold on though, just tagged and instantly let go - it was so funny :P

Thanks smart bunny
I'm sure the breeder didn't have time other than to just drop pinkies in at feed time - I lost count of how many snakes he showed me, and they were only some of his collection.
I wont be worrying about being tagged by Hoggle, it can't be as bad as being tagged by my BRB's.
Now trying to wait patiently for Monday to arrive
