Hey guys! So this is a question for those of you who have candled your eggs at various stages.. Mine have passed the 40 day mark now, and in fact have 16 days left (going by 60 day average)..

However when I candle them, using a small bit bright LED, it seems only about 1/4 of the egg has any dark matter in it, and it's all at the bottom of the egg. Veins are numerous and look healthy, and all the eggs are fertile, so just need to get some opinions as to whether this means they still have lots of developing to do, and either should I bump the temperature up, or just assume they'll take longer than 60 days? It would seem that that's a whole lot of developing to do in a couple of weeks if they're to hatch on time!! I'll see if I can get a picture tonight..

My first clutch are on day 51 and sound the same it's because they have used up most of there yolk at this stage so mostly all of what you can see is baby snake if you look for long enough you will see a little head pop up so cute :D

I think they tend to grow more quickly during the final stages, like hen eggs and most other embryos

Thanks for the help guys :) I just worry because they've only got about 20% of the time left (going by 60 days) to fill the rest of the egg, which sounds like they'd have to do some serious growing!! Looks like they may be slightly late, but who knows. I was just expecting to see basically no light come through the egg as I thought they would be pretty fully grown by now..?

They hardly ever fill the eggs unless they are very small eggs if you candled then every week as I do you will see they look Moor full at 2-4 weeks than 6-10 week

Cheers guys :) I suppose I should be less mother hen then! Some are nearing 1/2 full now, so I suppose that's a good sign. At what point do you start to see movement in the eggs when candled?

From about 3 week you sometimes see movement you have to be very patient something I'm really not lol :D

Haha yep patience is definitely something I'm struggling with. I haven't candled very much, as I'm trying to leave them alone, as I know nature will take it's course, but still- I am so excited to see them. When you haven't candled before and you see only 1/4 full, you instantly think you have 3/4 of the time to go! Nice to know this may not be the case.

Especially with that one GIANT egg, god knows what sort of monster is brewing inside there... It's the one on the left, but it's literally bigger than a golf ball! Excuse the quick mobile pic but I didn't want to take long. Anyone had twins/super babies??
