I'm looking at getting a new thermostat and just wondered what experienced people thought, what brand is recommended and good value, also where to get one online. Any recommendations?

Habistat all the way. I use both of these types. Depends on your set up but either will do fine.

I use habistat pulse stats. They are very very reliable with temperature variance, within less than a degree difference most of the time. I haven't used the non pulse stat ones but I have used the microclimate ones and they were terrible - about 6 degrees variance!

I use the habistat mat stat does the job nicely got it set to 29oC highest it goes is bang on 31oC thought that was too high but was told its alright as he regulates his temp when hes warm he goes to the cold side :)

Same as Moppet - though I use Microclimate pulse stats - they are very good, I'd never go back to Microclimate on/off stats, there was at least 4 degrees temperature swing with those. The pulse stats keep the temperature really stable - it only varies 0.1 degree, if at all.

I'm the same as you Razee, tried the microclimate on/off and wasn't at all happy with the large difference in temp. Am very happy with the Habistat dimmer and pulse stats that I've got.

You say you have a Habistat stat Luke....which one is it? Personally I wouldn't be happy with the temp getting as high as 31oC. May be worth tweaking it down a bit.

Xxx
