Was thinking of making my corn snake a shelf in his Viv, if I made it out of wood what would be best to use and would I have to varnish it ? If any one knows of any good ideas would be very welcome |

i would just use beech or MDF its all "vivexotic" use and again no need to varnish it as long as its not rough on your skin which beech shouldn't be |

cornelious This I can help with. My husband is in the middle of sorting out plans for my girl's big girl home, and has done extensive research into this kind of stuff.
I have just had a look at his plans (he has sited sources etc for it) and nails and screws are fine, as long as they only go wood to wood, not into the viv (i.e. so that the screw head is visible in the viv).
If you make it up and use the screws so that they are on the outside, none of them on the inside of the viv at all, and then use any sealant that is suitable for fish tanks, you will be fine. This is a great "How To" that he found

Any questions give me a shout and I will mither himself for more details happily |

yeah i agree with screws as long as they don't protrude the enclosure. |

Mdf would need sealing because it doesn't like moisture so needs varnishing. Vivexotic use furniture board which is made from Chipboard not mdf. |
