Hi all, I got my first corn snake 3 days ago and got told that every Sunday is feed day. I put a mouse in front of him and he didn't take, so I left it in there with him for a few hours but still didn't take it, what should I do ? |

Wait until next Sunday. Some won't eat straight away, they need a week to settle in with no handling x |

Mine didn't eat for a few weeks when I first got him, mainly because he was due to shed. Sometimes they just don't want to or they are being fussy, my male won't eat mice no matter what! |

Yeahh I was just abit worried. He is rubbing his head on things and also trying to bury his head in the wood chippings. Is this a sign of shedding ? |

Could be. What sort of wood shavings are you using? |

As Georgina has said, it is best to leave him for a week to settle in. Just imagine the stress he's been under with being moved and then having to get used to a new home. He needs a little time, with no handling or feeding, to recover and feel safe. Don't worry about him refusing the feed or missing another one....corns can go for a long time without eating.
What you're describing certainly sounds like he could be about to shed, which would also explain why he didn't eat because some snakes don't like to when they're 'blue'. If this is the case he'll probably want to be left alone anyway, quite a lot of snakes don't like to be handled when they're 'blue' because they feel vulnerable....although if he's rubbing his head on things he could have shedded by the time you read this !
Beech chips are fine to use as a substrate for him. Let us know how he goes.
