In light of many many people asking how big their snakes should be at such-and-such an age, or whether or not their growth is healthy, or if the look as old as they are, I thought it would be helpful to start a thread where members can post comparison pictures of their corns along with ages and weights (if you weigh your snakes) so that others can see the huge variation in growth rates and sizes.
This thread is intended to be a visual guide to this subject for anyone who is concerned, worried or just curious about how big their corn should actually be. The answer is, there is no answer! How long is a piece of string?
Generally, if your snake is eating well, shedding when it should, pooing and drinking normally and otherwise seems active and healthy, then don't worry if they are smaller than others you've seen of the same age.
To start us off, here are some of mine.
Here we have Magneto (right) and Phoenix (left). These 2012's share the same father, different mothers. Both mothers were first time breeders last year.
Next we have Naiobe (right) and unnamed (left). Naiobe is actually 3 weeks younger than the unnamed stripe.
Then we have Quicksilver (right) and Storm (left). These are clutchmates.
And lastly we have Trinity (top) and Neo (bottom). Again, these are clutchmates.
The first three pairs of snakes were bred by me and have been on the same feeding schedule since they hatched, just with differently sized prey items as they have grown apart in size. I tend towards the bigger side of prey items, always have. All snakes are kept the same way, RUB's in racks with Lignocel, logs, vines, branches and hides.
Just goes to show, even full siblings can be totally different when it comes to growth patterns!
If anyone else has pictures like these to add, please do- the more there are, the better the picture we can build for other keepers.
Cheers all and have a great day |

fab pics which really show just how variable their growth can be, if i used 8's size as a yearling as to how big Jinx should be now I'd be so worried!! another vote for sticky status :-) |

Annnnnd this is why dyslexics should triple check their work.
If it says right it means left, if it says left it means rights.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you....hopefully you get the idea !! Thanks so much for doing this thread Rach. You know how much people worry about whether their snakes are the 'right' size and seeing photographic evidence of the differences between the same aged snakes will really help to reassure them.
This, of course, is the important bit, and worth repeating -
Generally, if your snake is eating well, shedding when it should, pooing and drinking normally and otherwise seems active and healthy, then don't worry if they are smaller than others you've seen of the same age.
