hello everyone,
the problem i have got is that my 1 year old cornsnake has not eaten for 3 months i have been offering food every week i tried tonight and he struck it then left it, the temps are all correct so was wondering with else i can try.

| When you say his temps are correct what are they? Has anything changed in his viv? It a bad shed maybe. Difference in behaviour. What size food was he on before he stopped? |

| Thanks for your reply glad to say he has now tuck his food and eat it maybe its just me been a worry head nothing had changed at all temp at 30 warm side viv the same he was still very active but he has eaten he is on small mice what weight should he be at about 1 and half years old ?? His shape looks nice and how he should |

There is no such thing as a 'normal' weight as corns vary drastically, the main thing is they should be 'loaf-shaped' not too round, and as long as they are eating and pooping fine then they are probably OK ;) It may have been he was affected by breeding season? Corns often go off their food in the spring for a bit (yeah I know - what spring lol!).
Just as an example, Corno is 19 months, 300g and on large mice, however Ember is 15 months but just 98g and only recently gone up to smalls. |

| Would u be leave while cleaning the tank I found that he hasn't eaten it in fact he had hidden it so no he hasn't eaten |

I'm sorry he didn't eat when you thought he had Michael. You say he is very active, do you mean that he is roaming around the viv and trying to get out? If he is, then it sounds like normal breeding season behaviour....and unfortunately that means he is more interested in finding a female than in eating. A very frustrating time of year  ....I talk from experience!
You say his warm side temps are 30oC....is that a reading from a digital thermometer? 30oC is a tiny bit high, so it may be worth turning the stat down a bit to lower the temp slightly.
If his not eating is due to it being breeding season then all you can really do is wait him out. Just continue to offer him his small mouse each week, on feeding day. Keep weighing him, to make sure he isn't losing too much weight. And, at some point, he'll surprise you and take the mouse!

| Thanks for all your replys, he has now eaten but he would only take a fluff not a small mouse like he normally eats is this normal?? If so is it worth offering 2 fluffs ?? |

I'm an idiot, I should have thought to mention going down a prey size  ! If his behaviour is down to it being that time of year, then it's perfectly normal. I got Kellog to take a small a couple of weeks ago, when he usually eats large mice....but he's refused a small again since. Personally I'd go with how he's behaving. If he remains very active offer him a fluff the next time. If he takes it ok, then offer him a couple the following feed and go from there.
Smalls are about right for a snake his size for when they are eating normally, as long as they still leave a 'bump' when he's eaten.
Keep persisting and see how it goes.
