I have had my cornsnake for 12 months, he is about 18 months old. He is about 2 feet long and I have just brought a new 3 foot viv.

He has been in the new viv for 2 weeks and has just started striking when I try and pick him up. He didn't strike when he was in his old viv.

Is this because the viv is too big or has any one got any suggestions as this is my first snake.

I think he is feeling rather vulnerable. have you left him for a whole week, since moving him into the new viv? if not i suggest you do so. only enter to change water. After a week he should calm down, if this 7 days gets in the way of a feed don't worry skip it, he/she will be fine and then try again. Can you please also tell me what your setup is like temps and so on?

Hello and welcome
As cobweb has said your corn is probably feeling a little vunerable in his new home.
Is there plenty of cover and places for him to hide?
If he has plenty of cover and has been left to settle and all the temperatures are fine, then I would try and 'ignore' the striking and carefully get him out - just persist and hopefully he will settle down again.
You could try the old sock trick, by placing a clean one that you have had close to your body for a few hours in his viv so that he gets used to the smell of you again.
