So I was looking at the feed record sheet that Phoenix came with, and he was only being fed once a week, which i thought was a bit odd and he was due a feed tomorrow anyway. I've had Phoenix since Wednesday and I know you shouldn't really interfere but yesterday he was out for over 11 hours, and i was told he is a confident eater so I thought i would give it a try today. I also got to weigh him before he fed. He is 7g. I did the method of putting a bit of kitchen roll in his faun and left the pinky on there so it was less stressful. After a few minutes he took the food and ate it within a few minutes which I was very pleased about since I've only had him for 4 days now. He is still wondering around his cage, he is such an active little guy :) Will be interesting to see if he hides away throughout the next 48 hrs. |

Congrats on the feed, that will make the non handling time easier, as you'll have to leave him for 48 h now, anyway. You could always feed him every 5 - 6 days, that'll help him grow :-) |

So glad the first feed went well NatalieC. I found out that my breeder sent me the wrong feeding and shedding records for Cathy, to today is the big day for me - corn snake feeding 101. She seems a confident girl as all I have been doing is changing her water daily, but for her that obviously means "PLAYTIME!" and me trying to persuade her that no, you have to stay put in your viv has lead to my husband questioning my sanity! I gave in last night and let her play on my hand in her viv - every time I tried to move my hand out of it the more she wrapped herself round it. I did double check her temps, and they are fine, so she just seems to want out, but dinner on kleenex will be provided later for her - she can have a restaurant (RUB) meal on Saturday. |

Oh wow she does sound like a little confident girl Hopefully her feed will go down just as well, I wasn't too sure Phoenix would, but when i picked him up they told us that he was a confident eater and he definitely proved that haha Good luck with your first feed, hope all goes well |
