So i brought my little corn yesterday havent seen him out the hide yet i know this is probly normal, also when i changed his water this morning it didnt seem to have gone down at all maybe im just worring, i just want him to be happy and healthy also he seems smaller than other pics of hatchlings ive saw but the shop keeper told me its because hes a male so he will always be slightly smaller in comparison to a female.
This week couldnt go any slower i just want to hold him :p atleast hes learning me a thing about patients... |

I always find that the corns u get from a shop r a but smaller than from a breeder i think its cos they keep they to just 1 pinkie to keep them small for a bit longer also the water in mine never looks like it goes down i change it every day but when u think a little corn drinking wont really make a dif to the water level .. With is size give it till u can hold him in a few days a then give him a weigh befor u feed him xxx |

He litterally looks like a painted earth worm hes about 7inch long but looks thin was talking to my friend who had his years ago from same place he told me his was small but instead of feeding it one pinkie every week like the shop keeper said he fed it every 5 days and it soon grew, already intend to weigh him monday a few hours before i attempt to give him his first feed at home was told he eats well but i have a strange feeling he wont eat, but hey im just being paranoid as hes my first corn :) |

Breeders often try to get them up to breeding size asap, in shops they will be more on a regular diet, usually. As long as his shape is fine (loaf shaped, not tent shaped) I wouldn't worry too much.
As for the water, corns drink very very little. I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you start handling him, try putting him with his head near the water bowl when you put him back. If you're lucky, he'll show you how corns drink then (I really loved seeing that for the first time) but if he doesn't, don't worry :) |

Moved his water bowl closer to cool hide when i changed his water also added a nice neat tunnel for him to use to get from hide to hide without him being seen to see if it make him feel more secure i used the cardboard box that tin foil comes in and cut it to size, hopefully this might encourage him to explore,
P.s i think i might have the usane bolt of hatchlings just saw him dart past never saw anything go so quick :o |

Don't worry about not seeing him out and about. It's normal for him to hide where he will feel more secure. He will drink when he needs to but probably at night when nobody is there to worry him. I'd certainly up his feeding regime to a pinkie every 5 days. I quite agree with you that the week settling in is very long and seems to last forever!
And....no question is silly. We all have to learn and help each other along the way. |

Agree with the above - feed him every 5 days rather than every 7 until he's big enough to go up to 2 pinks (every 6 days) and then fuzzies (every 7) :)
Good luck with the wait - we all sympathisize!! |

If it's dark have you looked at anery? Kind of the opposite of amel - amels have no black, anerys have no red. Or is it brown with little orange dots between the saddles - if so that's a normal.
Orrrrrr..... we could just wait for pics lol! |
