Omg haha! I'm in the process of kitten-proofing the house just now (well the areas they will be allowed in at the moment till they are older), my fireplace is relitively new and there are no gaps for them to get into the chimney like my old one!

One of my boy rats, when i first got him, ended up in the chimney. He was stuck there for a good 15mins before i managed to unscrew the fire from the wall and get him out, scary stuff!

My dads cat used to sit on top of door frames, loved it, just had to be careful when you walked from one room to the other in case she fell off lol!

I know what you mean. We always have to check before going to close any windows or doors, don't want to squish the cat. This is Lucky, one of the two feral kittens I hand reared, now aged 9 years and still acting like a kitten. She is a real free runner lol.

But when it all gets to much she drops off to sleep very relaxed.

And after a bit wriggling squashes the cushions so she is more comfy

And Luckys sister Dip. A big girl and generally quite a lazy cat though does have bit of a temper on her

Are they coming from a rescue or are they still with mum? Cos if there's any chance they can stay with their mum for a few more weeks it will make SO much difference to their behaviour etc. 7-13 weeks is when they learn how to be a cat basically, from their mum. Lots of social skills and also they can get her milk for that much longer. Just my advice but I totally recommend it as I've seen the difference it makes :)

They are with mum at the moment. Ah, i've never heard this, all of the cats in my family have been seperated from mum at 8weeks, i just thought that was standard *blushes* could speak to the woman i'm getting them from and see if that would be possible!

They are just adorable
I have no experience of leaving them beyond 8 weeks with mum - did have a couple of hand reared kittens because the mum died, these were the most adorable and loving kittens, followed me everywhere. Unfortunalety they didn't make their first birthdays - they both had to be pts with leukaemia (which is what the stray mum must of died of and passed on to them as they had all innoculations)
I now have three lovely cats
Zeb & Cosmo as kittens

Cosmo as an adult - he suffers with Cerebral Hypoplasia

Zeb as an adult

and Moses - he was found dumped in his cat carrier

Apologies for the overload of photos

To some extent I would agree with this. However my cats were found in a barn mother apparently had been killed on the road. My two cats had only just opened their eyes when we took them in. They were raised by myself and our dog BoB. They do show some perhaps slightly unusual habits compared to some cats, carrying sweet wrappers around and playing with the dogs toys but they still learnt some of the typical cat traits. Sharpening claws on furniture, hunting and bringing you the corpse or leaving parts of bodies in the kitchen for you to stand on. Mastered the litter tray no problems . I would also say that having them from such a young age has given them a really strong bond with myself and the rest of the family, alot stronger than my cats in the past that were left with their mother for several weeks.

Good arguments for both sides here! I'll speak to my partner when i'm home from work although i think he'll want to collect on Sat still. I have to say the cats in my family have all been well adjusted and loving cats.

Blackcat, don't apologise for pictures, i love pictures hehe! They are all gorgeous. Zeb and Cosmo are lovely, Zeb reminds me of Rosie's shorthair sister, my dads cat, they look quite alike in the face! Poor Moses, another beauty, i just don't understand how anyone could abandon an animal like that

Red, poor kittens losing thier mum like that. Glad the kittens are ok though! My dads cats carry sweet wrappers around haha. Love playing with them!

I thought you'd still want to get them :) However it's worth considering for any future kittens you might get. I've had kittens from all ages and backgrounds and no you can't tell the difference when they're older as all cat's personalities are different as is their health. All I know is staying with mum till 12-13 weeks is optimal balance for their health and also ability to bond with a new owner but that's only if owner and breeder of the kittens is happy with it.

Freddiesmum - I was horrified that some one could dump a kitten locked in the cat carrier. There was bedding in the carrier and a bag along side contained toys, litter tray and bowl. I wouldn't mind but the Blue Cross is about 1.5 miles from where dumped.
I think he was a christmas present, he was found Feb half term - probably couldn't be bothered to find any one to look after him when they went away. He does have attitude, but is the most faithful cat I have ever had, he will come for a walk with myself and the dog
I can't understand any one who is cruel to animals

Its always great seeing adult cats as kittens, despite me not liking the mog i am stuck with, i loved and adored my other 2 cats, but cant post pics as would get me too upset! They died within 2 weeks of each other, Dot,black, 3 legs had a stroke, Tam ginger gorgeous green eyes was attacked by 2 dogs and had to be put down.
This is why i have not bonded with Biscuit or IT for short!
But cats are wonderfull to have around, even though i will now be sticking to reps

I can't imagine how that must feel! At least the owner had the sense to get it put down i suppose.

The dogs in your sig are lovely by the way, i love the one sitting next to the ferret!

Thanks lol the 2 together Lyla was on other side of the poster, was my friends birthday card, the only way to keep Peanut still was to put ferret paste on the back of a muffin! the flame on candle was cut out, kept falling, after pic was taken Spyro grabbed the muffin, not easy to get all 3 in pic together!
