Hi all, Our hatchy has never been a brilliant eater, often missing the odd feed here and there, but the past month he's been really bad.
He's about 6 months old, very small and very shy. He's fine with handling but hidden away whenever he's in his faun.
I feed every five days, he did get up to two pinkies per feed for a while, but iv put it back down to one since he's started fasting. Its coming up to a month since he ate anything, and he shed towards the beggining of that period.
I know they can go for months without food but i guess im just asking for a bit of reassurance that he's ok.
His temps are fine, got decent thermometers and all stated up. There are plenty of hides in his faun too. Any advice? Cheers, Gary.

That's such a shame. How are you feeding him, in his faun or in a separate tub? What are his temps? Has anything changed in his faun in the last 6 months? Is he kept in a quiet place? I would cover most of his faun with paper, sides & back but leave the front clear, might make him feel more secure. I'd also only offer a feed every 7 days, and try not to handle him too close to a feed. I've had 2 that were fussy feeders, and didn't like being handled on feeding day, just put them off.

He gets fed in his faun on a feeding tray, last thing in the evening and i leave him with it all night, alone and with the lights off. He's in a quiet corner of the house and i never handle him on feeding day (through past experience). Iv tried different batches of pinkies from different shops just in case it was food quality, but to no avail. Temps are 22 cold, 30 warm.
I'll try covering three sides of his faun as you suggested. Could anyone give me advice on when i should be getting seriously worried and seek a vet, or indeed if i should just chill out and let him do his thing?
Thanks for any advice, its our first snake and i just want to make sure he's a happy little lad.

You could try scenting with chick or tuna. There's a sticky for non feeders. Maybe try and drop his temps by a degree some like it hot. Some like it cool. Brain the pinkies Make it really hot. Some like smelly ones that have been out since the morning. There is plenty of things to try before you panic you are not alone with the nonFeeder and there are numerous people with tons of experience x

I had a fussy hatchling who didn't eat for about 5 weeks and in the end only boiling the pinkie worked. Poor boiling water out of the kettle until the pinkie turns white, dry it off quickly and offer it straight away. Worked a treat for me!
