So went to check on Dimebag today ( regular poo check and humid hide as he went blue a few days ago) and was looking at him thinking 'core he's pretty bright to say he's shedding' and low and behold when I look down properly I see a perfectly shed corn skin! So proud! Been waiting so long for his first shed with us so anxious! But no eye caps or tail retained!
I'm deffinatley saving his first shed! Not sure how yet lol
So proud of my little fella though
I know this my seem a daft post but first time snake owner and first shed... Well I think u will all understand my excitement! :)
He's now all cosy cus he fed day before he shed (he's a greedy fella) so will observe his new brightness properly in a few days! And maybe some pics!
Would love to hear stories of your first shed!!!

Congrats! glad it went well, and not a daft post, we are all pleased when a shed goes well! especially the first with you.
To keep the shed, you dont have to do anything special to keep it, just put in a bag to keep from tearing, or stick in a drawer, some even laminate it

edit to say that sounded harsh, the bit about not having to do anything special the shed, what i meant, is it does not need anything to preserve it, had one on a shelf for over a year, and still the same as it was!

Oh, what a lovely post!
Of course you're chuffed, proud, excited and all the other things you feel too. So was I the first, second, third (etc, etc) time mine shed. And I still keep all the sheds, apart from the ones they poo in!!
Don't they look amazing when they're all fresh, bright and 'new' looking?
I'm hoping my Penny will shed tonight, it's about the right time from when she started going into shed.
I really hope you get to watch your snake shed. That is something very special....awesome, and a sight to behold.
I'm so glad you posted, that feeling should always be acknowledged.

That's great news! I'm so pleased for you

It isn't a daft post, I was *SUPER* excited too when Apollo shed for the first time, then again when he shed on his own for the first time...Every snake's first shed with me was extra exciting, even if they weren't the first like Apollo was.

I love how shiny and bright they are when they're freshly shed, there's nothing quite like a freshly shed snake

I have kept all of my snakes' first complete sheds (apart from Aphrodite's first which I broke, gutted) and I look forward to being able to compare adult sheds to their first sheds with me in the future. I find the whole thing so fascinating

Always nice when the first shed goes well I keep all the snakes sheds, nice to compare the difference when they grow. I bought some folders with plastic sleeves inside, and name and date every shed...how sad is that lol

Thanks guys! He looks so amazingly orange now!
@hissyfit it's not sad at all! I've put dimebags shed in his folder (yes he has his own folder with pictures, feeding and shed/length/weight records, where he was bought from, when hatched, contact number of where I got him from! And more! Yes I have OCD lol)

This is a crappy pic I took to measure him with but you can see how 'fresh' he looks ^^

Yaay, it's always exciting every time they shed I think. I also keep both snakes skins everytime they shed, it's great to compare them as they grow! =] He's a lovely little snakey
