I seem to have a bipolar royal python lol she can be fine one minute then striking next, i handle her for about ten mins some nights and shes fine then strikes, some nights cant get her out because she'll strike at the glass of viv other nights shes as docile as anything. Cousin thinks i'm making it up cause hes never heard of a snappy python lol She doesnt ball up much these days. Anyone else have one like this? |

My local petshop had a royal python with an attitude problem haha. I didn't believe them when they told me because they're normally so placid but he was the exception that proves the rule! He has gone to his new home now so hopefully they'll make progress with his behaviour issues haha. |

That's a rare one. I cant vouch that all Royals are placid but I would reassess how the snake is being kept and see if something is stressing it out. Does it eat well? |

she eats fine unless shes cleaned out then she doesnt like the clean place and stops eating for 2 weeks till shes used to it again lol snakes are kept away from kids and i dont get her out while kids are awake so its quiet for her. |

What about lighting, do you keep it nice and dark for her, plenty of foliage and hides. I have a very shy Royal that has a 3 foot vivarium and its so packed full of logs and foliage that he can move around and never be seen. They dont appreciate open space very much. |

no lighting they on landing, the only light during day is from tiny window, i dont use artificial lighting for them she has two hides and hides under waterbowl. hot and cold side. she comes out at night only so i dont handle her till night after kids are in bed and only when shes out of hides. |
