| I think my snake is a little attached to his coconut shell at the moment, I've got 4 places for him to hide and he always chooses that one! Is this normal for a snake to prefer one type of hide? And also whenever I take him out for handling he's fine but he HATES going back into his viv and whenever I put him back in he's all edgy and stuff, just trying to get out for ages and gets nervous for a while after when someone goes near, anything I can do to stop him from hating me haha |

| Its perfectly normal and he will settle in time he doesnt hate you hes just adjusting to suddenly being handled lots and plonked in a new enclosure time will sort him out theres absolutely nothing wrong lol |

Some people put something inside the viv that smells of them to help the corn snake get used to them. Someone suggested putting a clean sock in your pocket to carry with you all day, then put it in a hide, then your snake can get used to your scent  Sounded quite sensible to me and might help a little.
As Paulie said, it's normal and hopefully he'll learn that you're not going to eat him with a bit of time |

| And regarding the marked preference for one hide, I think it's absolutely normal! My D always stays in the same hide, so if she's not out & about I know where I have to look for her! |
