| Hi , Just bought a 3 year old 3foot corn the previous owner, said she used to be great at handeling but got new job that meant he worked away alot and just had someone go round and feed her but didnt handle her, now he says she doesnt like being handled very much, She has never struck out (Or so he said) any advice on how i could ease her back into handeling, any tips for encouraging her out? |

| you need to leave her alone for a week, no feeding or handling to give her time to settle in and then slowly build up, 5 mins a day to start with and slowly increase the time |

She is due a feed on friday. she gets 1 mouse every 2 weeks and she is due on friday. should i not feed her then? she is curious always out and about in viv up at the glass etc, doesnt seem 2 shy, but havnt tried picking her up yet as only got her yesterday. |

| skip the feed, it will do her no harm at all :) she might not seem shy, but shes just exploring the new sights and smells |

If she is active and exploring then I'd say offer the feed on Friday if she's due it. She should be hungry enough if getting fed fortnightly. Leave her to digest and wait until she's pooped then try handling and see how she reacts. Start off with 5-10 minutes and gradually increase the time as she gets used to you.
What size of mouse is she getting?
Post a couple of pictures to get an idea of her build and to check that she's on the correct size of mouse.  |

| She is on medium sized mice. Not got many picks as only had her 1 day and i took 2 but the flash scared her and she hid in her rock ill try and get some in natural light without flash. |

Mediums sound too small if she is 3yrs and only getting fed fortnightly? My yearling is on large mice weekly (but the frequency will be decreased once she reaches adult ie 3yrs or sooner if I think she is getting too fat!). Obviously you have not fed her yet, but when you do see if it leaves a bump. Also, once she has settled in try to weigh her.
Congrats on your new snake, I'm sure you'll be handling her fine after her settling in week :) |

Yeah when i asked what her diet was he said he used to feed her weekly but has dropped down to fortnightly, it wasnt till i got home i looked at the mice he had given me with her and seen they were only mediums, i thought it wasnt enough but also thought snakes in the wild dont eat much anyways, but ill see tomorrow if it makes a bump when she eats it, i dont think it will coz she has quiet a fat body and the mice arnt the recommeded 1.5x her fattest part, but ill feed her as recommended by previous owner for first feed till i can make my own assessment. |
