It seems like a mine field of knowledge |

How big is Cornelius and what size and how often do you feed?
I feed Rubi one medium every 7-10 days, she's roughly 2-3yr old and quite small. I feed my 2 yearlings 7-10 days on smalls, they've very recently changed from fluffs. My mum feeds Moroki a jumbo mouse/small rat every 3-4 weeks, he is 4yr, 5 ft long and 500ish grams.
Most people feeding smaller prey feed every 5-7 days, and then weekly on appropriately sized small/mediums and less often as the food gets bigger.

He's 230g and about 32/33inches, i was told initially that he was 14 months old, when i asked again was told about 2 yrs so not sure on an accurate age I'm feeding a medium mouse every 7 days. The quote of if it's 1 to come2 yrs feed every 5 days was from a cornsnake book I'm currently reading |

It has nothing to do with age. Its to do with pray size. Id be feeding mediums every 8-12 days. But tbh I don't stick to any routine with my adults |

George is around 4months and eats every 3-5 days (fluffs). He's growing very quick and has never refused or regurged since back to when he was a hatchling. The best thing to do is work out a routine and if they take it then assume they are hungry, happy snakes. |

I think the standard is 7-10 days with mediums depending on the snake. Whilst he's still growing your fine. Once afult feeding gaps get bigger. |

It depends on the snake I think. Some snakes get fat easier than others (*cough* apollo *cough* ).
I feed my smaller hatchlings every 5 days on double pinks. Aphro gets a fluff every 6 days. Apollo gets a small every other week (even though he is growing very fast he seems to put on too much weight and get a bit too 'squishy' on a small a week). I started off feeding my small adult Kali every other week on double smalls (I don't have anything bigger) but she is losing weight steadily on that (she didn't need to, she was a healthy loaf shape) so I am now feeding her double smalls a week which seems to keep her weight more stable. I have ordered some larges and will try a large every 10 days or so and see what happens with her weight then adjust accordingly.
Personally I would put Cornelius on one mouse a week and see what his weight does. If he gets too fat looking then take it down to one every other week. If he looks too slim then try putting it up a little. I think a lot of it is trial and error, there aren't any fixed time periods and everybody will do it slightly differently anyway. |

This is the guide I've got ( one of many )
Snake weight : Mice: Mice weight: Frequency:
4-15 g 1 x pinkie 1 - 3g every 5 -6 days 16 - 23g 2 x pinkie 2 x 1-3g every 5 -6 days 24 - 40g 1 x fuzzie 4 - 6 g every 6 -7 days 41 - 70g 1 x hopper or 2 x fuzzie 10 -12 g every 6 -7 days 71 -130g 1 x Small 12 -14 g every 7 days 131 - 200g 1 x Medium 15 -20 g every 7 days 201 - 300g 1 x Large 20 - 25g every 7 - 10 days 301 - 500g 1 x XL mouse 25 - 30 g every 10 - 14 days 500 g + 1 x Jumbo 30 - 35 g every 14 days
This is just a rough guide though. Generally, whilst the snake is growing, when the food stops leaving a bump, you move one size up.
You lot got me thinking, though. I might have been feeding Bazilishka too often - she's just two, 99 cm long and 278g. She's on 1 x L once a week. But now she's two, maybe I should spread the feeds a bit. She's still growing, though. She does look a bit podgy, but only weighs 278g? |
