well, probably just me being concerned for no reason..but that's how it is with your kids lol so I thought I'd ask just in case, and hoping for your comforting replies well, lately my snake has become really lazy! either that, or something is wrong with him. he doesn't really move around a lot in his terrarium anymore, he just lays there. during the day he sleeps inside one of his hides, as he has always done, but then at night when he comes out, he just lays there. he used to slither around all over the place. when I have him out of the terrarium, he moves around normally. he eats and poops normally too... I know that he can change his habits a lot, and I guess this is normal for snakes. and I am assuming this is just that..but still..it has made me a bit concerned |

Same has happened with George, at one point I started to panic thinking he was on his last legs. Then just put it down to the cold weather and the possibility of hibernation. If that exists with corns. |

Sounds pretty normal to me. Some snakes do slow down a bit in cooler temperatures, in the wild they would brumate in the winter but if there is still heat source and food they are less likely to do that
Apollo is very very lazy in the winter, more so since I moved him into a cooler room of the house in his big boy viv. |

My corn is the same, I use ceramic heaters so the ambient is almost constant but in the winter all my snakes seem to go to ground, only ever see them from time to time, soon be spring though and they'll be back. |

thanks for replies everyone. I've only had my corn for about 6 months, so this is his first winter with me. now I will know for the future :) it's a little depressing to see him like this, but oh well, at least now I know he's fine and nothing is wrong

another thing that can affect how active yr snake is is how 'full' it is... if yr feeding the maximum size it can take at the most frequent interval, it will be feeling fat full and lazy a lot of the time. my adult female had an unplanned egg-lay last summer, so afterwards, worried about her getting back to peak fitness i kept her well fed for a couple of months- she put the weight back on, and more, but hardly moved. she's now on a diet, and seems a lot more active than previously. maybe try feeding slightly smaller meals, or less often, if you want to see yr snkae waggling about a bit more...
